Re: Foster hamsters
I'm so happy!!
Frieda moved into a very well set up detolf with a lovely knowledgable lady. Now Frieda can live the wonderful hamster life she deserves.
Thank you all for your comments.

Re: Foster hamsters
When trying to rehome a hamster by advertising on a number of sites, it really shows how far in between people are who actually know enough about hamsters to buy a decent cage.
Luca is a cute and very tame hamster and i've had so many replies of people asking to adopt him but so far not one person who enquired had a decent cage.
Every time i give my honest opinion and try to educate people. Sometimes people get angry and call me rude and ignorant and other times they appreciate my advice.
Luca spent almost a year in an awful cage and now lives in one of my bin cages. He seems happy and displays no signs of stress so he doesn't need a big cage but people don't even have a 70cmx40cm cage!
So frustrating and worrying because the sad conclusion is that the majority of hamsters still live in tiny, bare cages.
I'm quite tempted to pretend advertise my own hamsters with their habitats just to give people a visual idea of what kind of habitat a dwarf hamster could live in......or i wait until i find another Hamster Heaven to move Luca into and then advertise him.

Re: Foster hamsters
That is really annoying. Poor Luca, he does deserve a good home with a decent sized cage.

Re: Foster hamsters
Very frustrating when people take good advice as personal criticism. There is certainly more good information out there than ever before but we haven't hit full saturation in the general public yet I suppose.
You know you're doing the right thing not accepting substandard care. Luca's perfect home will come along soon enough im sure

Re: Foster hamsters
Well done Frieda! I’m quite envious too she’s such a lovely girl!
Luca looks really sweet too.
I can imagine how frustrating it is trying to educate people who really don’t want to know & it is sad to think many hams are still living in totally inadequate or inappropriate conditions.

Re: Foster hamsters
Yay! I just picked up another Gumtree Hamster Heaven bargain and want to get creative with a nice home for Luca because this dwarfie has never had one.
I'm sitting on the floor surrounded by hamster habitats while Rodney is running around on the floor.
Something smells like old socks, its not me so it must be one of the hamsters.
Its not a pee smell and i haven't figured out yet who it is.
