Re: Foster hamsters
They are only around 3 months old and lovely. I just had the brown one out and climbing all over me. I'm glad that the people didn't want them anymore because now they have a chance of a good life.
What happened was that i saw the ad of them going for free which immediately rings alarm bells because they could fall into the wrong hands.
When i see ads like that far away i still message them and point out the dangers of giving hamsters away.
I then contacted a small private rescue who was able to take them in but had a busy weekend and needed time to set up two cages.
So the two dwarf girls now belong to the lady who rehomes, to suitable homes only, but they are spending the weekend on my coffee table.

Re: Foster hamsters
That’s so lovely of you Ria. They must be used to some handling I guess and being younger it will hopefully be easier to find them new homes, fingers crossed. What a shame they were no longer wanted though, but this way they will find better homes. A good spot by you seeing the advertisement and acting on it quickly.

Re: Foster hamsters
Usual reason: Child lost interest.
Yes, they are used to people and handling. They are not shy at all and active during the day as well but dwarfs often are.

Re: Foster hamsters
Does anyone know of a shelter around the Salem, Oregon area looking for hamster foster volunteers? I have been wanting to foster for a while now but I have not been able to find anywhere that needs volunteers. Help would be much appreciated.
