Re: Foster hamsters
I understand. I did not realise the rescue did not have space to quarantine.
From what I have heard, pet shops with an adoption centre rely on their own vets who are often not as thorough as others may be.
Hopefully he will be adopted by somebody who understands the needs the robo has.

Re: Foster hamsters
The rescues i know are self funded small private rescues run from ordinary homes, people like myself when i rescued.
Yes, large petshops have their own vets.
The only hamster free room here is my OH's office but he watches disaster movies so that's a no go for a hamster. I'm really racking my brain where i could put another hamster away from the others but can't think of anywhere.

Re: Foster hamsters
I see. Would it be possible for your OH to watch the movies while wearing ear phones?
If this is not possible then I hope you can tell yourself that you have rescued many hamsters and sometimes you just cannot rescue them all. You are a wonderful person.

Re: Foster hamsters
I've concluded that some Robos don't like a sand area and prefer a small, enclosed sand bath.
Half of Finley's sand area was full of substrate again plus lots of debris. He didn't appear while i tidied but once i was finished he checked that the air was clear.

He peeks out of this corner and seems to feel safe in there. 20220815_172558.jpg

Re: Foster hamsters
Aw, it is so lovely to see Finlay! What did you use for the sand area? It looks brilliant and very cosy.

What do you mean? It's the same as before. Sand in a cardboard box i got at The Range.
The little square thing he looks out from is one of those useless digging boxes minus the drawer thing, on its side. Got it free as well. It has two perspex sides which gives him that enclosed feeling i think.
