Romy is more herself again, so something is working, either the Baytril or Metacam or both.

She's just been out on my lap for a bit and then stocked up on seeds. She had lost interest for foraging for a while and stayed in her bed but now she's getting up again.

That is wonderful news! It must be so lovely to have her sit on your lap.

Don't know about sit, lol. It's more a matter of me putting the hamsters on my lap then stop them with my arms from getting away.
An embrace hamster fashion.

The only hamster ever who would sit was dwarf Edwina and that was because she was so nosey and would get a better view from my lap or hand.

Romy's going back to the vets on Thursday for a follow up appointment. She is a lot better but there appears to be fur loss and a swelling under her chin. Hopefully i'm mistaken.

Symptoms are similar to Edwina's who the vet suspected had lymphoma...

Romy is incredibly tame. I can lift her out of her nest without her screeching or trying to nip me when i have to give her the antibiotic.

I hope Gertie never takes ill, she can be one vocal and fierce little madam when something annoys her.

I am sorry to hear Romy is still not herself. I will be thinking of you both on Thursday.

Thanks. Not looking too promising for Romy. She's not responding to the antibiotics and vet could feel lumps upper chest area. Could be pyometra with an extended uterus, lymphnodes, tumors, could be anything. Romy's going in for a scan tomorrow morning to get a better idea of what's going on.

I am sorry to hear such sad news. I have been checking all day and hoping for a positive update.

It is so lucky Romy came to you. You have given Romy so much love and a wonderful home. Without you, I doubt she would have been taken to the vet. I hope the scan goes well and does not show anything serious.

Poor Romy. She was fairly elderly wasn’t she? Assume this is why she looked a bit pregnant?
