Re: Foster hamsters
I agree with you. I rescued a rabbit from an awful situation. I did not report the people in case they wanted the rabbit as evidence. He spent his life with me instead.

Re: Foster hamsters
I couldn't get the chinese hamster because the people stopped communicating. I feel quite sad about it because i wanted to give him a forever home. Hopefully he found a good home where he will be loved and appreciated.

Re: Foster hamsters
Romy's on her third millet since arrival. Not sure if she just likes stripping it or does she actually eat it.
Dwarf Edwina was like that and stripped millet soon as i put a new one in. Her nesting area had a thick layer of millet and then she built the nest on top of it.

Re: Foster hamsters
I just took her out of her cage for the first time. She walked into a transport ball so i let her out on my lap while i sat in a safe area. I scooped her up in my hands and she didn't bite. Romy run around for a bit but didn't play with any toys. She jumped up me and the door which told me that she wants to go home. I put her back and she headed straight for the millet. Bad timing on my part. I think she saw me as an interruption but wasn't grumpy.

Re: Foster hamsters
This girl likes her food and she loves to hoard. After the millet she emptied her food dish and now she's out for some fresh food. I didn't see her last night but she's been up and about quite a lot this afternoon.
All our female dwarfs have been daytime hamsters.

Re: Foster hamsters
Interesting how your dwarf hamsters have been up in the daytime. Romy is beautiful.

Yes it is. They've all had quite different personalities but had this in common. I don't know if this is a female dwarf trait or just a co incidence.
Our four male Syrians have different personalities but are all fairly early risers and all want out of cage time. I think they animate each other and may be more reserved if they'd be only hamsters. Maybe.
