But so lucky the nice lady was there - because many people would have just ignored or blanked muffin lady or not be interested in hamsters.

I would love to do what you do, but we live out in the sticks and it's hard enough to find rescue hamsters to adopt one never mind a few! And I'm not sure it would go down well at home - I'm already accused of taking over the house with hamster stuff, and we have a teenager who needs "space" as well.
The nice lady was in fact in the last group. Everyone else ignored muffin woman or didn't want a hamster.

Oh yes, it was a busy picnic setting in a park on a sunny day and the river may have been an empty threat.
Nice lady said the way she was swinging the tub about was scary enough.

You adopted and that is an essential contribution towards the rescue and rehoming of hamsters.

Yes I couldn't get one from a pet shop again. Our first one was from a pet shop but it was a small local pet shop that bred their own. They stopped selling animals a few years ago though. - I had never heard of PAH!

Sometimes it's taken ages to find a hamster - I've travelled 2 or 3 hours to rescue one before! (Moo) so am very relieved Happy Hamsters started up and they even drop them off sometimes. They're about an hour and a half from me.

I'd only get a rescue or one from a breeder. Mind you I've had a rescue be funny with me before for having a pedigree hamster from a breeder! Shouldn't have mentioned it.

Romy was busy.

She sunk the ceramic hide and wheel, the big red millet has disappeared altogether so she must have pulled it somewhere and hidden it, whimzee's out of sight and the yellow millet has been stripped and pulled into a hide.
And she's chucked the bedding out of all the hides.

I think she's catching up on all the hamstery things to do.

Aww, that is adorable. She sounds very hungry from what you have said. She must be so happy now that she has enough food and enrichment

Yes. I put a peanut in just now and there she was, grabbed it and run off with it to her burrow.

The lady who saved her fed her so i think it's more a matter of being able to build a hoard and she's going for it.

Most rescue hamsters have never been able to display natural behaviours because they lacked the means to do it.

I get very annoyed with people who ration food and don't feed enough to eat and to keep a hoard to eat from.
Always better to feed too much than not enough.

It's lovely hearing about Romy enjoying her new home. She must think she's in heaven! I bet her previous home wasn't so great. Before the muffin tub I mean. I agree it annoys me when people underfeed. Hamster food is quite cheap - a bag lasts ages. It can be quite serious too - one person came on here and their hamster had died and it seemed starved to death. After removing the hoard all the time, limiting feeding because they kept hoarding the food and then forgetting to put new food out for a few days.
