Re: Foster hamsters
Oh my gosh! How could somebody be so evil! Thank goodness the person was able to save the poor hamster. I dread to think of the way the hamster has been treated. I too hope this is a joke.

Re: Foster hamsters
I've just changed the set up to make it darker with lots of cover and a house with removable roof so i can check on him/her. Phew, done in a hurry.

Re: Foster hamsters
Yes and it wasn't a joke. A lady contacted me via Lola's adoption ad and asked if i had space for a dwarf hamster. She went to a picnic with friends and went home with a hamster in her basket.
A woman swinging a muffin tub went from group to group trying to get rid of the hamster inside the tub. She said that if no one takes it she's going to throw it in the river.
The lady who saved the dwarf girl already has hamsters so was looking for someone who rescues to take her.
The little hamster looks healthy and it always amazes me how resilient they are but what a narrow escape.
That nice lady who took her home was in the right place at the right time. My views on the other wouldn't be printable on a forum.

Re: Foster hamsters
It is a miracle that kind person was there to save the hamster. The hamster is beautiful. Thank goodness she is safe with you now. What a sad and awful incident.

Re: Foster hamsters
Thought she might feel more secure in the mushroom as a foodhall rather than a food bowl.

Re: Foster hamsters
I’m just speechless that someone would even consider doing something so awful to another living thing but sadly this is the world we are living in. Thank goodness for all the lovely, kind, caring and big hearted people like yourself Ria and the lady who took the hamster. As you say, she looks surprisingly well from such an ordeal, thank goodness she’s all ok. She looks very sweet. Hope you can find her a new home in due course

Re: Foster hamsters
Oh, what a dilemma i'm in.
I've always wanted a chinese hamster as my own pet but would only consider one someone else no longer wants.
I saw one advertised living in poor conditions with the usual child lost interest reason so messaged to show my interest. No reply. In the meantime i took in Romy and then the person with the chinesey replied stating that he's still available.
We currently have 8 hamsters, 6 are our own and 2 fosters for rehoming. 8 is my absolute limit. Not space wise because i have a spare Hamster Heaven that could go on a dolly trolley under Rory's table and not financially because i have a good vet fund. TIME is the problem. Making sure that they all get the attention they need, have clean toilets and wheels.
I'm not looking for advice, i'm just venting off to people who can relate.
Everyone else probably thinks i'm one of those crazy hamster ladies which i'm not.

Re: Foster hamsters
I can understand this. Maybe once one of the foster hamsters are rehomed another Chinese hamster will be needing a home. It is so true that Chinese hamsters are rare. Is it possible to take the Chinese hamster and give it to your friends rescue? That way you will know they are safe and you may even be able to take them in later on?
