Came home yesterday with a boot full of hamster stuff to add to my hoard. Someone was moving house and cleared the garage. Amongst my haul was a Kerry terrarium which i've set up for a Robo with stuff i had spare.

I'm not much good at setting up tanks because there's no where to put up shelves and runs like in a barred cage.

Oh well, here it is.

I've seen an ad of a Robo in a Spelos locally, with cats harassing her so am chasing that one up. No reply yet so may have gone.

Ria, you cannot possibly think you are not much good with setting up a tank! That looks amazing! I really hope that poor Robo is safe.

I just looked up the Spelous as I had not heard of it. It is tiny! It is so sad these tiny cages are sold.

Thanks.

Sadly, the majority of hamsters i rescue lived in the Savic Spelos, including Syrians. Rodney did.

My neighbour used the base as seed trays and that's about all they're good for.

In a way, that type of cage reflects the level of hamster care of the person who buys it so it's not surprising that many of it's occupants end up in the small ads, unloved and no longer wanted.

That is very true and sad.

The tank looks amazing. I had one of those for our first robo - he was fine in it. I couldn't get on with it so moved him to a barred cage and he was fine with that too!

I think there two Spelos cages. One has a little front door that opens - that one is not bad as a hospital cage! Or a pet carrier. But that's about it

I love to see your cage set ups. Great news that you are keeping Scottie robo.

The new Robo cage looks fab Ria. Sad to hear about the ad you’ve read. Let’s hope the little robo is ok if he’s already gone to another home.

Today someone approach me who saved a hamster that was going to be thrown in the river.

I'll get more details later but i'm just changing the tank's set up adding a lot more overhead cover for a traumatised hamster.

In a way i'm hoping that this was a hoax and won't come to anything.
