Re: Foster hamsters
After everything that's been happening lately i was ready to quit fostering but the foster tank in the lounge really bothered my OH, Rodney and me. We kept going to feed and chat to the empty tank out of habit.
I also wanted something Clarissa had been fond of around me so i cleaned and repainted the little house she liked so much. It's in the tank now, ready for another little hamster who needs a warm and cozy place to sleep in, just like Clarissa did.

Re: Foster hamsters
This young Robo was bought for a child who soon lost interest. We named him Walter. That's him hoovering up the brown linseeds.

Re: Foster hamsters
Ooh a lovely little robo! I can never find any! The house looks really lovely - a nice idea to give it a makeover for a new hamster.

Re: Foster hamsters
After a good sniff around with his pouches full of food looking for a place to sleep, Walter moved into Clarissa's house.
I'm going to observe him for a few weeks before trying to find him a suitable home.
He's still a baby, born in the week of 5.July and has already seen a vet for stress related issues.
Another concern is the fact that his nest was fabric. He had no proper nesting material and the fabric nest which was in the open, was shredded. I have no idea if or how much of the fabric he ingested.
I feel that he needs to grow up a bit before he can handle another move.

Thanks. It's probably my imagination but i sometimes think that hamsters actually look happier when put in a more interesting environment.
Here he is sitting in one corner and then in another.

He looks as though he is settling in very well.

Re: Foster hamsters
Thank you, Ria. I just tried to find them online, but none of the search terms I entered came up with any results. Could you possibly post a link?
I noticed in one of your photos that you had some on a hamster house inside the cage. Did the ham take any interest or leave well alone?
