He's adorable. Looks like he could be a little devil though.

Re: Foster hamsters
Maureen has been adopted today and moved into a Savic Plaza. She'll be the only hamster in her new home and get all the fuss, attention and cardboard her little heart desires.

Re: Foster hamsters
I saw a cage on Gumtree that immediately rang alarm bells with a little dwarf living in it. With the help of a friend the dwarf girl was collected and i'm going to get her tomorrow after work. Can't wait to meet little Josie who is 5 months old.

Re: Foster hamsters
I'm trying to get to know Josie and get her set up right as well. She has discovered substrate and the fact that a hamster can burrow in it so can often be heard scurrying about underground. She didn't get on with the enclosed Trixie wheel but likes the 7in open wheel (it's the 8.3in nightangel wheels i really want). No interest in the flying saucer so i took it out, attached the wheel to the bars and created a deeper burrowing area which she loves.
She lived in a weird very high, small floorspace cage with lots of plasic tubes, open ladders and plastic shelves so i attached some plastic tubes to the inside of her cage. I had to take them out because she peed in them, they were dripping, yuk. I left a small removable one in as a toilet tube.
I find that hamsters pee and stay in tubes when they don't have a proper house or only a thin layer of substrate.
I added a long bendy ladder, more substrate, a wicker hide and a couple of small plastic hides because she's used to plastic. I did watch her last night running along the long ladder and rolling in the sand but she soon dived down a hole, simply because she can it seems.
Having everything on one level must be a huge change for her considering that she had to climb plastic ladders just to get to a wheel. I'm not sure yet whether she likes her wheel on the stand or on the bars but her behaviour should tell me.
Monty threw a tantrum when i put his on the stand for easier cleaning (for me) so that was a clear no no from him.
That's her current set up in the foster cage.
