Re: Foster hamsters
Today i came home with a big, chunky, lovely Syrian girl who is tame and likes people. She has been handled and she had out of cage time and she looks well fed.
She lived in the dreadful Savic Geneva with a thin layer of woodchips, a food bowl, a water bowl and a wheel the size of an ornament. And that was it. Jail is more comfortable, at least it has a bed.
She's not living a life of luxury yet because she's in the Grosvenor but i'll try my hardest to get her there.
She now goes by the name of Dolores or Dolly for short.

Re: Foster hamsters
Chunky lady indeed! She's a beauty!
Bless her, that's no home for a ham I'm sure she'll be chuffed to bits with the Grosvenor for now, she can at least turn around in it!

Re: Foster hamsters
Aww what a pretty hamster she is.
I love the grosvenor. Use it as a spare for my mice when I clean them out. It is so easy to access and has a nice deep tray. Love the shelf too.

Re: Foster hamsters
Thank you all. I've just weighed her and she's a respectable 212g. Have also advertised Dolores for rehoming because she's confident and tame so ready to go.

Re: Foster hamsters
Happy ending for Pancake formerly known as Luca!
He's moved into a fab new home with a lovely and caring family. Took a while to rehome this gentle and friendly little chap but he deserved the best and got it in the end.

Re: Foster hamsters
Dolores shold have been adopted last Saturday but due to covid regulations there's a delay. I'm more than happy to keep a hamster when the right person offers to adopt and Dolly has the perfect forever home to look forward to.
For a big girl she can run surprisingly fast! She was whizzing around the room last night while i sat on the floor wrapping presents. Anything that's in her path she simply runs over it, wrapping paper, human feet, all the same to her and she makes these little, happy squeaks.
The sad looking hamster from the ad has well and truly gone and her real, delightful personality is coming through now.
Ok, she's not impressed by me showing her off.

Re: Foster hamsters
That's great news for those two. I do like Dolly's photo - she really doesn't look impressed.

Re: Foster hamsters
The rescue took in six very young Syrian babies that had been taken from their mum too soon.
Given the right food and lots of tlc, they're all happy and thriving now.
This photo of the three sable girls is just too cute not to share.
