My hamster ignores toilet roll toys

Hello everyone.

I made the chew/ treat toy Erin suggested by cutting a paper roll into stripes and then putting them one through the other. I add oscar's favorite treats inside but he doesn't seem to care one bit about the toy. It's been 5 days now and the food is still in there which makes me wonder, am I doing something wrong or he just doesn't like the idea of the toy?

My syrian Star is the same with that one, she totally ignores it. My other syrians have ran off with them and shredded them to get to the treats So no, you are not doing anything wrong. I do other ones instead for Star, like cut biggish holes in 3 -5 places in a tube, stuff some food in the middle and add some bedding in both ends. Or, make smaller holes in the sides of a tube, poke food in the holes so they stick out, place in cage upright, submerge the bottom into the bedding so stand uprights, and fill the rest of the tube with bedding. I'm actually in the middle of editing a video on this

My Syrian ignores them too. I made another cardboard boredom breaker but she's not interested in it at all..
