New addition
Hello. So today a new little baby joined my household rather spontaneously. We are not sure if the little one is male or female but he/she is absolutely tiny and very very young. We are not sure exactly how young but this little one was not being kept in very good conditions at a pet shop (no water available and being kept together with older hams in the same small, hot terrarium with no hide or house and no stimulation at all) and while I couldn't take all of the little ones that were there, at least I could give a good home to one.
He or she is incredibly skittish. We are yet to establish a name but are very happy to have him or her.
He or she is such a little one that after setting up the cage we found him or her sitting on the wheel trying to figure out what it does!
Any advice on keeping a very young hamster would be greatly accepted!

Re: New addition
Omg he/she is just gorgeous! I am not surprised you couldn’t leave them behind. I hope the others find good homes too. I look forward to hearing how your new addition settles in and their adventures. He/she is just teeny tiny!!! Too cute! X

Ha, I thought you would go back
congratulations she/he is very cute.
Not much to advise re babies, as I only adopt older hammies.
I am sure someone else on here will have advice and be able to help you.

Re: New addition
This little cutie is so so tiny. I'm surprised he/she was already in the pet shop. Try not to think about the others. How did this little thing even manage to survive amongst all the others.....
I'm so much looking forward to see updates on your youngest family member and totally understand why you had to go back for him/her.

Re: New addition
Awww they're tiny. Hamsters can be sold from as young as 3 weeks!!! Only thing I suggest is make sure they can't get through the bars and make sure the wheel can be adjusted as they grow.

Re: New addition
Thank you flowerfairy, I will look for that!
So we have named him or her "Rollo". A strong viking name and the first Duke of Normandy.
Little Rollo has along way to go till he is all grown up and is no longer terrified of everything but we will get there!

Re: New addition
The ears are up and little Rollo looks very alert almost like he/she is trying to weigh up the new situation he/she found him/herself in. I bet his/her conclusion will be "yeah, i've landed on my paws here".

Can't believe how tiny Rollo is.
