Hi... I am new at this forum, but I could perhaps advise asking local pet shops. Some of them around where I live take small pets in emergencies - your situation does sound like emergency. It does not cost you anything to ask...
Good luck...

Keep in mind hamster's live in extreme environments so theyre adapted to surviving.
I don't necessarily disagree with what you are saying, I think a hamster could survive for ten days on their own provided you were to provide at least two or more separate water sources and plenty of food.

My big concern is what if the hamster falls ill or gets injured?

Sorry for the late reply guys. Thankfully, I found someone that's going to look after her for me. Big weight lifted.
I honestly don't know how long you could leave a hamster for but I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that. I feel badly enough that I've said the person doesn't have to check in on Christmas day but to feed her extra on Christmas Eve. She always has 2 water sources. There aren't any suitable pet shops near where I live that would take in pets in emergencies unfortunately.
Thank you everyone for your help. Much appreciated. Xxx
