Default Travelling - help!

Hi guys,

Me and my bf are planning on going travelling in the summer for a period of 5-6 weeks. My little robo lives in a huge tank (not portable) and I am worrying about who will look after her while I'm away.

My family arent that hamster savvy and I have a friend who is hamster savvy who I'd trust to look after her but theres no way of my transporting my hamster to her as 1) its took big and heavy and 2) she lives in a flat so no room! Unless I switch her to a smaller, more portable cage for a temporary period but I'm afraid it will stress her out

What shall I do?

As it will be for a long period of time I'd need someone to carry out regular spot cleans, filling up water bottle and changing her food bowl. I'm not sure I can trust anyone in my family with this lol!

All advice welcome

x

Odd suggestion, but can your hamster-savvy friend stay at yours rather than your hamster staying at hers?
Where abouts do you live?

I would say making a big bin cage temporarily would be OK, as having the right care will be the most important thing for your ham. As long as you keep the same toys and use as much of her existing bedding as you can it should help to keep her as calm as possible.

Good luck!

Probably not as my family don't really know her that well so will find it weird, also she has cats of her own to look after.

I live in Essex, England.

And yeah thats a good idea actually I've never thought of that. Thank you

I think the large bin cage idea sounds good too. But move her to it about 3 weeks before you go away so she has time to settle into it before being moved to a different house maybe.
