Unhappy Parents not letting me have a hammy in my room

I am very confused because my parents say I can get a hamster but it has to go in the shed I told them how they can have troubles in colder temperatures so they can't be outside but then my mum said u can't have a hamster if it's not in the shed. I suggested they go in my room but they said no. I asked why and they said I don't want a hamster in your room! Of course I asked why they said because u already have gerbils in your room and it's not very good to have lots of animals in your room. Now I only have two gerbils and I don't understand why I can't have them in my room my mum said it's apparently bad for ur health but I can't see a problem. I am have been researching for so long now like 2 years + and I was so excited when they said yes now I am a little upset I can't have them anymore. Is there Anyway I can convince them to let me have them in my room it's not a space issue or anything they don't want my room to be a zoo! Which it won't be as I said this is the last animal in my room. Any suggestions thank you so much

Hi, welcome to HC. It must be disappointing if your parents have had a change of heart. And you're right, it will be far too cold for a hamster to live in shed. However, as disappointing as it is if you aren't able to get a hamster under their terms then I'm afraid for now you'll have to accept that. Above everything else is the fact that it's their house with their rules & it's important to respect that. If you hope to change their mind then maturity is very important. Badgering them won't help. Do all you research, and maybe even right it down as a project, to show you have thought everything through. They may change their mind but if there main objection is about how many animals you have in their room then you will have to accept their decision, I'm afraid & focus on your gerbils instead. But in the meantime, the forum is a great resource and may even give you some ideas for your gerbils.
