Default Nocturnal apparently!

I came across this research article which says that Golden (Syrian) Hamsters in captivity are nocturnal - it is only in the wild they are diurnal or awake at times other than night time. To do with less of a threat from predators changing their circadium rhythms apparently. Might explain why some Syrians don't come out much!

Default Re: Nocturnal apparently!

I've found that when I've had Syrians living here, they've been the ones that I'll never see out during the day and they'll be the ones that wake up later in the evening whereas the Chinese will often be awake at various times during the day. Matthew in particular, can often be heard running on his wheel during the afternoon and often there'll be a few of them awake when I leave for work in the morning.
