Little Leo
In light of my recent loss of Ellie, my heart was still very open to focusing on life rather than death, and I have taken in another Syrian hamster named Leo (Possibly a Lea, bit young to tell clearly right now.) to be next door neighbours with my Donny.
Not the best picture but he is a lovely golden little hammie. He keeps running on the wheel however and I'm getting concerned that he may not want to explore the whole of the cage.

Re: Little Leo
He's such a beauty!
Majority of young hams can't get enough of their wheels, it's normal.

Re: Little Leo
Congrats! Leo looks adorable
How long have you had him now? Wheel obsession is normal & he'll probably explore more of the cage as he settles in & maybe does it only when it's dark & no one is around.

Re: Little Leo
Leo is adorable! I hope he helps you get over your loss. I love how big his ears are. Is he a cinnamon hamster? Or perhaps honey? I am an amateur when it comes to picking out colours.
The favourite toy of most hamsters is their wheel, so I wouldn't worry about all that running. In the wild, they run something ridiculous like 5 miles plus per night. He's probably also investigating his cage during the night. If you want, you can leave some food scattered about and you will know by which bits disappear where he has been. He's still settling in too and getting the hang of his cage.

I've only had him for a day now, but he seems to be settling in rather quickly. I had to get up in the middle of the night last night and spied him in the top of his cage so he must be doing something.
Not sure where he's sleeping though he and the other little hammies at the store didn't have a house or bedding to sleep in and it shows because Leo tends to curl up and snooze on the wheel.

I think he's a cinnamon, been looking around for pictures to compare him too but it's early days yet to see if the fur darkens as he ages.
