Talking Re: Daisy diary

My husband bought these hamster castles on Amazon

And they came with a free DustBuster.

I was thinking of painting some features on them. Is there a safe paint I could use, or is that just a bit too fanciful?

Daisy is keeping me awake at night. She starts chewing stuff and it makes her whole cage vibrate. In a way I'm glad I wake up cos I can stop her destroying her lovely duna multi cage.
She's not very happy in her cage at the moment because I destroyed her stinky burrow. She'd been peeing in it. However she does use the toilet sometimes so I should be thankful

That burrow may have been stinky to you but, to Daisy she'll have got it the way she wanted it and then it's removed lol!
Her chewing is her way of letting you know she misses her burrow.
What are you using to clean it?
I do like those hamster castles.

Hi lizzy are you an insomniac too?
Little Daisy was starting to get a bit smelly herself so I thought I'd better do something about it. I didn't use any products, just removed the most offensive bits and some of the old food and poo. Now she's made her nest in another corner next to the wheel but not in the fitch. Do you think the fitch needs stirring up so it's easier for her to burrow into it?
Cotton has gone to stay with Grandhama for a few days. Hope the grandchildren don't let him escape.

Ah, I just love this thread, Ruth! I'm thoroughly enjoying catching up and laughing wholeheartedly as I go.

Cotton is so hysterical trying to serenade the fair Princess Daisy on his piano. I'm sure that he made lovely music for all of you to enjoy, lol. Cotton climbing on the bars of his cage, smiling from ear to ear as Dylan rubbed his tummy, is just too precious; it sure had me laughing. Such love and fun between the two of them. I know that it must do your heart proud to see such a special bond growing before your eyes.

Daisy is quite the gorgeous ham-princess with quite the spunky personality. She looks quite the mischievous one monkey barring in her cage. I hope that Dylan's ear is all healed by now; it was quite sweet that he put one of his hambuddies up to his ear for a quick exchange of secrets. Sadly, it seems that Daisy was a little too keen on a little nibble first.
I also love those pics with her in her ham-basket. I'm so glad that she is no longer chewing on her wheel and you had a brilliant idea of how to fix the hole in the cage base.

Both hammies are extremely gorgeous and I love their coloring. I'm so pleased that you and your family are having such a splendid time with your fun-loving hamily. I can't wait to see Daisy and Cotton playing (separately, of course) with their new ham-castle soon. It looks amazing, btw. What a great find and so sweet of your husband to get it! I hope that Cotton is having tons of fun with his Grandhama and there are no Houdini adventures going on.

Eros waves a furry paw to all of you!

Yes, I'm an insomniac, how I would love to be able to sleep sensible hours lol!
Hamsters do make nests in the strangest places. I wouldn't worry about it.
How's Daisy now?

Cotton is back from my mums now. He's been cuddled and prodded and fed lots of fresh produce from the garden and he's lost 10g in weight. He's been weeing a lot ( dandelions and all that veg I hope) so it's time for a major clean out. He feels quite skinny but weighs 151g so that's not unusual I guess

How long was Cotton away for Ruth?
10 grams seems a lot.

He was away for 5 days, while we went to East Anglia. Seems to be his usual gymnastic self, even the Martyr to Hamsters was impressed with his technique for getting out of the door in the top of the cage. Running on the wheel etc. Daisy is coming home tomorrow and she feels much heavier after her holiday. She didn't come out of her cage at all and mum says she only saw her 3 times. I'll pop her on the scales tomorrow night. I'm going to try for a few more Z's now. Sigh

Ruth
Love those Hamster Castles, I sympathise with the Stinky burrow issue, Ghost is starting to be a little stink beast too, so it's going to be a cage clean this weekend for him I'm sure that will mean a sulking session......
