Re: Meet Newt (AKA Custard's Victor)
Awwww congratulations on little Newtie. He truly is adorable ! I like the look of his cage set up, very fun for a cute little hamster like Newt. I look forward to hearing more (and I'm sure we will judging by the length of this thread already ) about the handsome man and hopefully seeing a LOT of hamster photos .

Aw! Hello Newt
Congrats Serendipity, lovely to see him home with you & having fun exploring his cage, love his new name (or names lol!) too!
Sounds like he's won the whole family over already, no surprise really, he's such a lovely handsome little man
Look forward to seeing lots more of him as he settles in.

Re: Meet Newt (AKA Custard's Victor)
Hi Serendipity,
Newt looks a handsome little dude, for a moment I thought he was named from the little girl in the Aliens movie.
Looking forward to hearing of his exploits.

Re: Meet Newt (AKA Custard's Victor)
Thank you. Well I was up till midnight. I gave him a scare - then he gave me a scare. He woke up later on and was climbing bars and rushing around a bit and a bit scatty so I decided to put the playpen up and have him out of the cage for a bit. Made a bit of a noise when I dropped a piece. A few minutes later I looked round and couldn't see him in the cage, and the top door was open! After a bit of waiting and looking everywhere in the cage I worried he'd climbed out of the top and escaped. In the end I took almost everything out and found him in a corner right at the bottom under all the substrate- I think the noise gave him a fright - so I lifted him out and popped him in the playpen while I put the cage back together again He is very fast and energetic! A bit jittery maybe with the change but I'm sure he'll settle down. He didn't want to be picked up again once he was in the playpen, the little monkey, but once I did pick him up he sat for a stroke for about 10 seconds lol. He's just had a piece of broccoli and I've turned the lights out. And am keeping the top door shut! I got lax about that with Charlie, who never tried to escape!

I lost count of the amount of times I did that with Khalis old cage. I remember being sat on the sofa one night and saw a movement out of the corner of my eye. Id left the door open on the top and she had climbed up and was walking along the top of the cage. I managed to grab her before she launched herself off the end
