Re: 31 days of May
AprilPearl Yes Tass is a collie. We got her from Many Tears Animal Rescue when she was nine weeks old. She is so sweet and cuddly and LOVES to play retrieve. Jojo will lie next to me on the sofa dozing whilst Tass brings me toys to throw for her!
BorisPasha Thanks, Jo and Tass are lovely and that walk is wonderful.
Drago Yes prey animals are not always keen on cuddles ... my guinea pigs are the same. Luckily the dogs ADORE cuddles!
Cypher It is such a good place to walk, so much variety. The dogs love the water and are always glad to have walkies. They are very very happy.

Re: 31 days of May
Flowerfairy, I hope you are going to share some pics of your piggies? Shame they don't like cuddles either. I had the most gorgeous Peruvian guinea pig who would snuggle for hours (well, until he let me know he needed to go home and pee by tugging at my shirt). Sigh... I miss guinea pigs

Re: 31 days of May
Aprilpearl dont worry there are plenty of pics of my utterly gorgeous guinea pigs waiting to be posted on this thread. Your gp sounds lovely.
Serendipity the dogs are comfortable together but dont play together. In fact Tass will tell jojo off for playing if i dont distract her!

Re: 31 days of May
Thank you for your lovely comments Hamsterita. Frosty and Snowflake are half dutch and half lionhead (according to the pet shop where I bought them). Frosty is the quad leader and likes to investigate everything that comes into their shed/run.
Snowflake is more retiring by nature and happily sunbathes when he isnt eating.
I was very surprised by those photos as my photographic skills are usually somewhat mediocre ...
Jojo and Tass are so so so lovely and cuddly and good natured.

Re: 31 days of May
Oh my goodness there may just be an introduction further on in the 31 days of May ... note to self, do not look on gumtree ...
Anyway, back to the dogs. Jojo our lovely sleek black labrador came to us from a friend when she was 18 months old. I had asked this friend if she had any puppies as my son was keen on having a dog. She hadnt but said "you can have Jojo" because my son had been to her house a few times I assumed that he knew Jojo. He said no but he wanted her anyway!
We were told that she was a labrador x collie and that she was gentle. The day of her arrival was sunny and bright and I had put out a large bowl of water ready for her.
She arrived (with her owner, our friend) and immediately did a huuuge wee in the hall (slate floor luckily) much to her owner's consternation! We then went into the garden and Jojo sat neatly beside me. She looked like a labrador but smaller and had a lovely symetrical white chest.
After her owner left she settled down very well and in the evening she sat between my son and myself on the sofa getting lots of strokies!
She was not keen on going upstairs (it turned out that she had been trained not to) and would often wander off during walks. Something that was to have rather drastic consequences ...
I was delighted at how well she settled in with us. When her ex owner visited she was very excited, leaping up at her and wagging her tail but soon settled once she left.
My son took her for walks every day and often we would both take her, playing piggy in the middle with a football which she loved.
She was used to living with her Mother and a lot of other dogs and was utterly miserable whenever we went out. When I went to work (three days a week) she would look at me soulfully so we arranged for a good friend to take her to her house on those days.
Tomorrow I will talk about the consequences of her wandering off on a walk ...

Re: 31 days of May
Oh oh oh I want to know more about this possible introduction
I enjoyed reading about how you can to acquire Jojo. She sounds lovely! Hopefully she doesn't get so lonely with Tass for company?

Re: 31 days of May
That looks like a wonderful walk for Tass & Jojo. So lovely hearing about their history.
I'm with AprilPearl about hoping to see some pics of your piggies.
I'm looking forward to this introduction soon.
