Cheese and crackers thread!
On Thursday the 13th of April I traveled to my local pets at home and purchased a pair of Campbell's Russian dwarf hamsters.Heres a little back story.I live with my mum, sister, grandma and grandad. My mum has 3 cats,my grandma has a jack russel and my grandad is blind so he has a guide dog.Recently I started feeling sad I didn't have something of my own,so after weeks of sucking up to my family they said yes to having a hamster.
Ok now it's time to talk about my prep. The day before getting cheese and crakers I decided to buy everything I needed and have it ready for when I bring them home.I was only going to get 1 hamster but when esembling my half tank half bared cage my sister cracked the tank part.It wasn't to bad so we were able to duct tape it so it was secure. But my sister felt so bad she decided to buy me a cage I wanted but couldn't afford in the first place(if you know hammylux on YouTube it's mochi's new cage)so I have that one coming. So my thinking was if I had a back up cage I could get two hamsters.
On the day me my mum and my sister travelled to a pets at home but they only had one dwarf Russian left(I had my heart set on a dwarf Russian)so we trecked a little further to a different pets a home where they had a pair still.I quickly brought them home and assigned them there names(cheese because he was calm and chubby)(crackers because he was slim and crazy)
After 2 days I saw real signs of aggression and didn't want to risk it so I split them up,cheese looks less timid and crackers even looks calmer.I have cheese in a make shift bin cage and crackers will stay in the first cage, when my new cage comes cheese will go in that. These are my first hamsters so I will post some more soon,if you want to follow along!here are some photos of them.(this is my first time posting photos so if they aren't showing up Ill figure it out be patient)(I'm still working on the picture side of this so here's a pick of cheese)

Oh, Cheese is going to be a lucky hamster! I really want Mochi's new cage too. It's the glass/acrylic one, right?
How big is Cracker's cage? It looks a little on the small side (but you can easily fix that)since the added level doesn't count as floor space, unfortunately.

Cheese and crackers are adorable!
I'm sorry you had to split them, but probably it was for the best!
Cheese's temporary cage looks really nice for a temporary cage!
Cracker's cage looks like it has a huge tray that would be perfect for him to dig, have you tried to fill it almost to the bottom? Being a russian he may dig a tunnel system, and that would be awesome to watch (and for him very entertaining)

Strawberry Hamster 88, where did your sister get the cage like HammyLux from? I’ve been looking but can’t find anything! Is it the acrylic terrarium she often shows her hamsters in?

Cheese and Crackers are simply adorable. Splitting hamsters apart is a hard process but I'm sure you will get through it
