Default In two's?

Just rang my local RSPCA to see if they had any Hamsters in for adoption and got quite a shock when the lady told me did I know they only rehome them in pairs? She then said "You do know they like company don't you?" Erm I said, I have a Syrian on her own, I din't think they could be kept with others. "Well, she might like it on her own but they must have company really

I just felt completely patronised. But more importantly Syrians in pairs? is that right?

they possibly have babies and see them all snuggled up and think they will be lonely alone or something... they'll be in for a nasty shock if they leave them together much longer!

It seems that more and more evidence piles in pointing to the RSPCA knowing nothing whatsoever about small animals

The best bit is that the general website says, Syrians should be housed on their own Hopefully they will take my email seriously and do some basic training with the lady I spoke to

I wonder if she'd been to check the RSPCAs own website - http://www.rspca.org.uk/servlet/Satelli ... 4077755713

Their top "what hamsters need" is to live alone!!

She may have been thinking of dwarfs which by enlarge normally end up living alone as well but are often sold as sociable. Or guinea pigs
