Re: 30 Days of April
Awwww! Those dooplets are too cute especially the photo of the one with his finacard blanket!
Its was very interesting reading about BEW Chinese hamsters - they all looks utterly beautiful.
Oly looks so cuddle in that photo
The caestars are gorgeous litter - I can see how hard it is to decide on who is going to be your keeper.
Congrats on Lyra and more adorably cute dooplets - hope everything goes well.
Looks like Rogue was really enjoying chewing on his bone. Good luck naming your new Syrian - he is so handsome and also remaning Ridcully. You have such gorgeous hamsters!

Re: 30 Days of April
Today I thought I'd show you some of my Syrians. I only have certain colours and you saw one of them yesterday - yellow. Yellow is one of the colours I have because my yellow hamsters carry dark grey; it's not a colour I choose to breed for (and I tend to keep non-yellow male pups). Other colours I have because they are dark grey carriers are goldens and cinnamons:

The colour I love is dark grey (in case you hadn't guessed yet!) The main problem with them for showing is that they go brown as they age which loses them a lot of points, so they only have a short time they can show for. Tauric is an old lad and is very brown!

Many people start showing and breeding Syrians with creams as it's a robust colour. I got my first cream hamster last year and she had a litter here with, yes, a dark grey! I have an ultimate aim of making some dark grey ivories as it's been a long time since I saw one and wanted to compare them to the more frequently seen silver grey ivories. This is Valegra, my cream girl.

Her daughter is currently in my bad books as I found this when I went to feed her tonight:

Even a bulldog clip wasn't enough to keep Asia from having a stroll. I think she's in my bedroom so I've set up a trap for her as she resisted my attempts to search for her.
As you can see from the pictures, tonight was kale night. Everyone here loves their kale!

And a bonus pic of Queenie who is slowly starting to regrow her fur.

Re: 30 Days of April
I have enjoyed this thread enormously Vectis, but I confess I have been waiting to see your current Syrians. Beautiful crew. Anyone descended from Romeo Romeo still with you?

Re: 30 Days of April
Tiny Tim and Georgic are his sons - though neither of them have had pups, sadly.

Re: 30 Days of April
That is sad indeed but Mr Nameless is a very handsome addition to the hamstery.

Re: 30 Days of April
Your Syrians are gorgeous, Vectis. Tim is especially pretty - I mean handsome I hope you find your little escapee soon! One of my past hamsters pushed open a cage door exactly like that one to make his own escape.

Re: 30 Days of April
Lovely to see them all enjoying their kale
Good to see Queenie growing her fur back nicely now too.
I can see why you like the greys, I do too, I really like the brown tinge they get with age.

Re: 30 Days of April
Asia hasn't fallen for my traps yet and is lying low. I'll re-bait them tonight.
Today's been busy as I was in the hamster display tent at the Hampshire County Fair (which we'll be doing all again tomorrow). It was only about 10 minutes away and none of the Vectis hammies were needed so Rogue and I travelled light. We were a long way away from the entrance again so it took a while after opening for people to filter towards us.

There were some very busy times and then it all slowed down by early afternoon when the rain set in. I took turns running the Pot Luck game and in talking to people about hammies and showing them the display team to stroke.

These two came out for cuddles with me as did a very smooshy black lad:

Rogue and I entered the fancy dress class in the fun dog show. He dressed as a witch, complete with pointy hat and cauldron, while I dressed as a frog. There was only one entrant in the class so we romped home with a 1st place rosette. We also took part in the have-a-go lure coursing which gave the spectators a laugh as Rogue decided chasing a lure was not his sort of thing and he just sat politely at my side!

Next door to the hammies was the reptile tent and I had a little wander when things got quiet.

Well, this is now the 30th day of '30 Days of April'. Thank you for sharing in my photos this month and commenting on them

Re: 30 Days of April
Wow! It looks like a ton of fun. Do you have a pic of Rogue at the fair?
