Hello!!!
I have three questions please answer if you know the answer but first a little info:
- female hamster
- 5months old
-name: Saiko
-has 2 other hamster in the house and sometimes I put them together, they never fight, i stay with them when they are together
-she has 2 cages: Ikea detolf and Rody duo
1) I have a hamster and I think she is a winter white russian dwarf but i'm not so sure, if you know more please let me know if she is a winter white that was my first question
2) She likes to sleep weird I will have pictures of this here... is this normal? She sleeps on her face in front of the wheel , she sleeps in the wheel, she sleeps just weird

3) she has a hole or 2 in both ears, and I don't think it hurts. Can this be from fighting when she was little?
4) I already posted this but i will ask again: She has a little swollen area between her legs but it doesn't seem to hurt. I am just a little bit worried because on the internet look at the pictures you get when you typ swollen hamster! I will have pictures of her swollen area to.

Re: Hole
Hi and welcome to HC
1) Quite possibly, but if you bought her from a pet shop she's much more likely to be a hybrid between a WW and a Campbell's. Hybrids are very prone to diabetes, so it's important to feed a sugar free diet. Burgess do an excellent dwarf hamster mix, plus you need to avoid certain veg like carrots that have a high sugar content.
2) Sometimes I've seen Inky do this when she wants a brief nap. However, it's certainly not an everyday thing as she normally sleeps in her shelter. Does your hamster have somewhere to hide and sleep? Hamsters are burrowing creatures and will not normally choose to sleep out in the open as in the wild that would leave them vulnerable to predators. If you don't have a hide, you can make a temporary one from a shoebox - leave it the right way up (lid on), cut a hole out for access and fill with ripped up clean toilet paper. Ripped up clean toilet paper is a good, cheap and safe nesting material. For the longer term, something like this (smaller version) is suitable. Great selection at zooplus: Corner Cabin for Small Pets
I've also noticed you don't appear to have much substrate (woodshavings) in the cage. Your hamster will appreciate having more - 3-4" is a good minimum.
3) Most likely, yes! Inky has a little nick in one ear for the same reason.
4) Not sure - I'll let someone else answer that one!
However, with regards to this

While I do appreciate that you always supervise them, I really wouldn't put your hamsters together. They don't need to be together, and will find the presence of another hamster quite stressful, even if they don't immediately start fighting. Your hamsters don't derive any benefit from this at all.
You also mention that she has two cages, the Detolf and Rody Duo. How is this arranged - are they joined together by tunnels, or are you swapping her between the two?

Re: Hole
Inky just about covered everything!
1 If you're not sure what species she is then you can almost guarantee she is a hybrid, pure bred WW are hard to find & you would have had to get her from a good breeder to have a WW.
As Inky said do be aware that she may be prone to diabetes & feed appropriately, a good quality dwarf mix with no fruit or added sugars, no sweet treats, fruit, anything with honey & more of the green veg, not too much of the sweeter veg.
2 Hams do sleep in some odd places & positions! Especially when young they can suddenly fall asleep in odd places but do make sure she has plenty of deep substrate, shredded toilet tissue to build a nest & a good house.
3 holes in ears from scraps with siblings are quite common.
4 As far as I can tell from your photo she looks normal.
ETA just posted on your other thread about that.
I totally agree about never putting two hamsters together, they won't gain from this & even supervised serious fights could break out at any time, keep them apart at all times.

Re: Hole
Thank you guys so much for responding!!
The cages are not joined together, I live in 2 houses ... but I don't have enough space to place a detolf ikea in both houses... Is it bad that she lives in a really big cage for a week and then she moves to a smaller cage dor another week?
And thanks for talking about putting the hamsters together, I already stopped doing this a while ago but i tought it was worth mentioning
Also: She has aaaaa lotttt of hiding spaces, and aaaa looottt of bedding and her cage is quite deep so she can dig very deep.
THANKSSS

Re: Hole
I'm on both but on here a lot more than either Instagram or Youtube, I don't have a channel or anything just the odd photo or vid most of which are here anyway!
