Re: What do you do/get for your hamsters for holidays & adoption day?
I'm getting mine a new wheel (they got it early bc their other one was too small) and some treats.

Re: What do you do/get for your hamsters for holidays & adoption day?
Trying a new shape of Whimzee is a good idea,or even a different type of wood chew or a new treat Or,an old favorite always works just as well!
This only helps in the US,but Dollar General sells some decent quality(but cheap)dog biscuits.I stopped getting them for my dog because I didn't get to go there so often, but they're like Milk Bones only a lot higher quality.US milk bones contain unhealthy things including unsafe preservatives, plus these biscuits are cheaper and the preservatives used are completely safe!I think you have to stick to a certain biscuit though as the other ones might not be as good or as safe

Gerber puffs are available online in the UK if anyone wants to get some.
They are a snack for babies/children.

You can't beat Farleys Rusks as a special treat for your hammy they even make a sugar free variety.

Re: What do you do/get for your hamsters for holidays & adoption day?
I'm back once again with a US treat tip!Target sell a wide range of dried fruits, and these are much cheaper than the Oxbow ones for a larger amount They're just as good from what I've seen so far at least in the strawberry ones,as there is no added sugar and being freeze dried there is no risk of unsafe preservatives. It definitely is worth looking no matter where you live though, since there is most likely some variation anywhere.

I haven't offered these to Inky, but does it look like these would be Syrian hamster friendly?
Sainsbury's - Please enable cookies or JavaScript
The ingredients are as follows:
Concentrated Apple Puree, Concentrated Apple Juice, Strawberry Puree, Gluten Free Wheat Fibre, Gelling Agent (Pectin), Concentrated Elderberry Juice, Natural Flavouring, (An average of 671g Apple, 43g Strawberry & 7g Elderberry used to prepare 100g of Fruit Flakes™)
However, it's 58% sugar, which makes me rather nervous! Best just to stick to the fresh stuff?

Re: What do you do/get for your hamsters for holidays & adoption day?
That is quite a bit of sugar!Definitely stick to either fresh foods or lower sugar options. The 18g serving is actually 10g of sugar, but that is still a large amount if you're feeding a whole serving.Of course hamsters would get smaller amounts, for example 1g would give a bit more than half a gram of sugar. It isn't the best treat but still probably at least healthier than something like a yogurt drop.
