Default Confidence

Hey fellow hamster lovers
So I was wondering if I could let peanut Free range in my room if I block off dangerous stuff ( outlets cords and stuff ) I don't really have the confidence as one time I let peanut free range in the kitchen and she almost made a run for it in a hole in a cabinet that I didn't see I caught her just in time !
So how could I build confidence to let her free range in my room ?

I would make a play pen, you can use cardboard or correx among other things, then you can have a safe area for Peanut to explore without worrying.

A playpen would be the easiest way to let your hamster play safely (under supervision to prevent escapes).

You can make a playpen out of lots of different things. Once made you could expand the size of the playpen to make a bigger area. It could be made so it fits into gaps and goes around corners.

Though a playpen is generally the best and safest option, in my experience, hamsters tend to climb out of them and they essentially become like "a second cage" personally, I let my hamsters and gerbils free roam, but I first ensure there are ZERO holes, power cords, or other openings/dangerous areas where they could get out. Make sure to constantly watch them if you do allow them to free roam, this is just my personal opinion and the choice is yours in the end, only do what you're comfortable with

Definitely set up a playpen! Once they have a taste of freedom they'll do their best to go off exploring on their own given the chance. They're inquisitive little fluffs and will get into everything. I let Custard play on my bed but never on the floor as he always seems to find big heavy things to crawl or hide behind and I have to try and coax him out with lots of treats.
You could either buy or make a playpen with some household objects. since they are determined climbers you'll still have to watch them as if they're left uninterrupted will find a way to get out and make a dash for it
