Amazing Night with Millie
I'm just so excited about this, and I had to share with others who understand. My standoff-ish hybrid Millie instigated playtime tonight! She actually chattered and made enough noise to get my attention then promptly jumped into my hand to be lifted out. She ran around my desk checking everything out, ignored the treats (odd for her). Her favorite game tonight was stopping at the edge of the desk to wait for my hand, then jump into my hand to give me nose bumps and even one lick! Needless to say I melted a bit at that.
The whole thing only lasted about 5 minutes before she gave me a sharp nip, her way of signaling she's done being social. It was so amazing, I never thought to have even one session like this with her. It's also a little bittersweet as she is 15 months old and I've seen a lot of old age signs come on in the last 2 weeks.

Re: Amazing Night with Millie
That sounds lovely & shows how they can surprise you when you think bonding has gone as far as it ever will!
She isn't that old at 15 months, do you think you may be seeing changes due to the weather rather than old age possibly?

Re: Amazing Night with Millie
Yes, they are always full of surprises!
I do think some of it is the weather, but some is not. Millie's left eye has completely clouded over, she stopped using her wheel and has a slight balance issue. Not so bad that she falls over, but she is noticeably wobbly. I did take her to the vet and they said cataract in the eye (was my guess before going), but otherwise she was in great health and couldn't find anything physically wrong to affect her balance. She is still eating and drinking just fine, so I not concerned just keeping a close eye on her.

Re: Amazing Night with Millie
Sorry to hear about her eye, hopefully she'll be able to cope with that if she's in good health otherwise & continue to enjoy life & probably continue to surprise you too, in a nice way

Re: Amazing Night with Millie
That play session sounds lovely! I know what it's like to have standoffish hybrids, I have three of them myself and every little bit of progress like that makes my heart melt. I'm so glad you had that wonderful time with Millie, you really connect with one another by the sounds of it I wouldn't worry too much about the cataract either, my hybrid Mint who has passed away of old age since had one in each eye and it never bother her or stopped her from living life to the full so I'm sure Millie will be alright too
