Photo Month Thread - August
It's now August so it's my turn to do the photo month thread.
I guess that I'm probably associated with Chinese Hamsters more so than any other species and for the last four and a half years, I've pretty much had the species exclusively. However I do hamster-sit for my sister's two year old Russian Hybrid from time to time who you may have heard me refer to on occasions.
Since I'm known for Chineseys, I thought I'd start the month with a photo of my first Chineseys. Meat and Stitch, The Founding Brothers of Metallica...
They were the hamsters responsible for the Fluffagrams name which my sister and I used to refer to the photos we'd send each other.
Meat, the smaller of the two, is on the left.

Re: Photo Month Thread - August
I'm going to come back to the Chineseys on Thursday because today I'm going to feature my first pets - the fish.
Up until I was nine, pets were always something other people had and that I really wanted however my parents weren't keen as we quite often went on weekend camping trips at short notice so a lot of pets simply wouldn't have been practical. Eventually they caved when they found a second hand fish tank advertised in the local newspaper.
A few weeks later we bought three fish for 60p each. We weren't expecting them to last long because - well you know the myth about fish not living long!
Despite that myth, Jester lived for six years and Cyan lived for fourteen and a half years. In his time Cyan survived an illness that wiped out most of the tank's residents, a tank that cracked and was the guide to an eyeless fish named Kai that was rescued from my great uncle's pond.
Cyan died in November 2010 and the last fish moved out of Metallica during 2015.

Re: Photo Month Thread - August
That is impressive, I don't know much about fish but do know a lot of pet fish are nowhere near that lucky, must have been very happy in your care!
