Default plastic cage vs wire cage?

I can't decide. We want to get a new cage for Arlo , about 78x40cm, pref no bigger as I don't want it to overhang as we have children who could bump it.
I've seen some of the plastic ones with wire tops which are the size we need but I'm concerned about lack of air circulating with these type of cages, our home is a newbuild and very warm! (we never need the heating on!) and I'd be concerned about it being too wam for a hamster in a plastic cage?
Also that he likes to poke his nose out when my children are talking to him and they stroke his nose through the bars (aww, it is cute!)
But the plastic ones do look so nice.. and I haven't found a wire cage that is the size we need.
Any suggestions on cages this size (the Alaska is a bit too big!) or if it would make his home too warm if air is not circulating through the sides of the cage?
Thanks
(he's a Russian Dwarf btw .)

I much prefer barred cages for both ventilation & interaction, I think it's easier to get creative with the set up too, that may just be me though lol!
Not too well up on the smaller ones but there's a review here might be worth a look.
There's also the Grosvenor which should just about be in your size range.
I'll have a think & see if I can remember any more...

I would say the Creciti 15 but it has 1cm bar spacing which I'd be a slight bit wary of for a Russian if not fully grown.

The Varazze (the one Cypher mentioned) would be a good choice as long as he's not a chewer and you don't mind not having levels - I found the cage to be quite flimsy

If you'd be ok with a tank style cage then I think the Duna Multy would be your best option. It has 7mm spacing at the top so no meshing unlike the Zoozones and is about £35 with postage on this website: Cage Duna Multy

That Creciti 15 looks ok, I do find they get on better with front rather than top doors generally but as he's already tame that might not be a problem & 1cm bar spacing is fine for a dwarf ham.
