I actually had this same dilemma earlier today when Willow had shredded her fleece hammock to bits
Problem is, some hams are just chewers! I find this tends to be more of a Syrian habit
I think someone on here made a hammock out of a Boredom Breaker Chill 'n' Chew Mat - it's made out of hyacinth so would be completely safe to chew

You'd have to make some holes in it and thread them through with either sisal string or paper string.

Another idea is to get a Sputnik! Lots of people have rat sputniks for Syrians and the hamster-sized one would be fine for a dwarf/Chinese hamster
This website (RatRations) sells the rat sizes in customisable colours:
Sputnik - XL - £4.99 : ratRations.com
Some people also line it with a hemp mat to make it more comfortable:

Your ham may also be bored with things in his/her cage and is chewing as a sign of boredom. Make sure your cage is filled with stimulating and enriching toys (toilet roll tubes are great for this! Here's a video on how to make some:
10 TOILET ROLL TOYS FOR PETS - YouTube) and it is big enough - it should be 80x50cm for a Syrian or 70x45 for a dwarf
