Detolf help
Hello all,
So at the moment Nutmeg has one half of the detolf and the other half is empty as it used to be Meeko's but I have used pet friendly sealent to split it into two but can anybody tell me how to put it into one cage by getting rid of the glass divider, I have tried to smash the glass in the middle (HAMSTER NOT IN CAGE WHILST DOING THIS) so does anybody know how to split it into one cage so Nutmeg can enjoy the entire detolf please.

Re: Detolf help
No smashing glass please! Try using an exacto knife, um called something else here in the UK, where are you? Oh utility blade or utility knife (thanks google) and carefully slice the sealant away until you can remove the divider. If there are bits left stuck to the glass try removing carefully with the flat edge of a razor blade, I think you can get a tool like that too that is safe to hold.

Re: Detolf help
I am in the UK The glass didn't smash XD I tried to use a glass cutter but I didn't split either, the sealent is very thick ( about an inch) What is a utility knife? Yeah you can get a glass scraper which has a handle that is safe. What is an exacto knife called in the UK?

Re: Detolf help
Ok, thank you, they are sort of like craft knives.

Re: Detolf help
I turned mine into a split cage which it is currently, however, I've removed glass shelves from a perfecto tank before and I've removed the bracing glass from a 3ft tank. For the Perfecto I just use a sharp knife (a filleting knife is good as it's flexible but be careful) to slice through the sealant. One the bigger tank it was tougher so I heated the sealant a little with my hairdryer first.
If the sealant you've put on isn't too thick you should get a sharp knife through it with no issue

Re: Detolf help
It was so thick that the knife came off of the handle! But yeah I think I will heat a crafting knife blade and split it and who knows, if it doesn't work I can use the other half as a taming box or a handling box Thanks for all of your help

Re: Detolf help
I think I saw a couple of people on youtuve who had a hole with tube connecting through both sides of the detolf ... Not sure how you would do that though!

Re: Detolf help

Re: Detolf help
I think Nutmeg would LOVE a little bulldozer! Actually, I think Sweep secretly has one judging by the state of his cage this morning!
