Too bad your friend couldn't have just rustled up the bedding a bit instead of poking him. Sometimes they do that, it's real cute, but that's how we learn. No worries it's good your giving him time to settle in.

Also, make sure to let your hammie come to you. Don't chase it around the cage to try to hold it for taming. Just thought I'd say something just in case you didn't know. When I first got my dwarves I didn't know.

Yeah, we should've been more gentle, but the way he was lying was so unnatural I was freaking out thinking he was dead. Now that we know hamsters do that, we won't bother him so much if he does it again.

I think I knew about letting him come to me, but it's a good reminder. We haven't touched him since we put him in his cage. Maybe tomorrow I will start putting my hand in with treats.
