Kudos to Jollyes!
Today I was at Jollyes picking up 2 new water bottles and some food for Willow when I stopped to look at the hamsters, typical me
Each dwarf was in what looked like 60x40cm cages with Casita houses, boredom breaker chew tubes, food and water and 6.5" Silent Spinners, and each Syrian had an 80x50cm cage with an 8" Comfort Wheel, a Superpet Mini Igloo, food and water and Boredom Breaker Chew Tube
Comparing this to P@H, these hamsters seem to be in great accommodations for pet shops - willow's cage is only a bit larger, and hers is 100x50cm! Whereas at P@H, the dwarfs have 4.5" wheels, small bendy bridges, food and water and nothing else - the only difference for Syrians is that they have 7" wheels.
They also only have about 3-4 hamsters in at a time which to me suggests that they were bred carefully and well.
I'm quite tempted to get my next hamster from there!

The jollyes that I have been to don't do this But they do have lots of enrichment for all their animals which is good to see
My boyfriend got a hamster from there as well and he's had her for about 8 months now... she's still not tame bless her XD

Re: Kudos to Jollyes!
Not to say this is your case but a pet store near me puts 6.5in Silent Spinners for their adult Syrians who are too big for the wheel and most certainly would knock it over during the night. The manager said they have to put those wheels in as per company policy even if they do not work for the hamster or are too small. They also are not allowed any chews or boredom breakers. Don't understand that at all?

I think it may be something to do with sterilization, but even Petco adds chews. It's so horrible that a pet store wouldn't even provide chews considering how cheap they are

These hamsters had to chew on the sides of the wooden tank to wear their teeth down as some of them have been there for months. At least they had the ledges to chew on

That's awful Maybe try reporting to an animal welfare organization?I'd hate to even bring PETA and such into these things but honestly it may be necessary or even the SPCA.

Oh that's awful forgot to mention that the shop does put wood chews in as well hehe but I do agree, maybe it's necessary to get the SPCA involved?
