Re: The 30 Days of April
This made me laugh so much my hubby wondered what was going on so I read it to him and made him laugh too!
Brilliant start to the month. Perfectly happy to have a month dedicated to the handsome Charlie.

Re: The 30 Days of April
So i am really gullible . I had forgotten it was April 1st. And when I saw Charlie's picture, I thought well that is odd for a wild hamster to look like that. Oh I need to brush up on April fools day.

Lol! And there was me thinking it was so clearly a spoof ha ha. Tomorrow may seem quite dull in comparison now

Re: The 30 Days of April
Day 2 – Well as you probably guessed, yesterday was April Fool’s Day and the story was a spoof
We actually got Charlie from a local pet shop, and he is our little boy’s hamster (athough little boy has now lost interest). We said he could get a hamster after he’d been in hospital and had an operation. Little boy chose the name Charlie.
Charlie was in a 3 tier Rotostak (not good), for the first 3 weeks. I took the larger base unit into the pet shop to bring him home in, and came back in a taxi, with Charlie running like crazy in the attached wheel on the way back, and the taxi driver telling me about his bad experience with a hamster. Charlie must have got out of the base unit while I was talking to the taxi driver.....
My taxi ride to my new home
He was quite feral at first, but looked sweet when he thought you weren’t looking. He would see us off by charging at any hand that came through the small top entrance door, and also grew quite large in the first 3 weeks, and got stuck in a tube one night.
We quickly upgraded him to a nice 80cm x 50cm Savic cage which arrived 24 hours later. He was very nervous and shaky for the first 10 days after his cage change and we found it so upsetting we nearly put him back in the Rotostak – but couldn’t because he was too big for the tubes, but by day 10 he turned a corner and was suddenly enjoying things, exploring his cage and having fun.
The only thing he seemed to like about the Rotostak, was being able to have a drink without getting out of bed, due to the position of the water bottle, and at this point we realised he was a lazy man-ham lol.
He was also very nervy until tame, and hated anything being moved in his cage. (And I wasn’t used to taking photos of hamsters lol. Apologies to those who have seen some of the photos before).
But seemed more confident the more he was out of the cage
