I will, thank you. I'm sat in the dark, I have been since I filled his food/water up at about eight o'clock. The things we do for our hamsters eh? Haha

Yes. I often took my hamster out of the tank during the night when I was awake. I saved a bit of any safe food I was eating just to give my hamsters.

Plain cooked meat is a surprising favourite of hamsters. I have given plain breakfast cereals to my hamsters as they would be healthier treats.

Would waking him up be too stressful for him though? I stayed up until I heard him up and about. I only spent about ten minutes with him. I talked to him and he took two sunflower seeds off of me. When I woke up he was still up and took he took a sunflower seed and a meal worm. He actually started sniffing at the bars as if to say 'more please' - taming seems to be coming on nicely

A little bit of progress. That's good. If you wake them by talking, offering a treat or just lifting the house roof off it is a little bit annoying/stressful to them, but they soon get over it.

It's more stressful if you poke the nest around, touch the hamster to wake it. Doing these thinks are highly likely to result in a bite.

Thank you. I might try gently coaxing him up tonight at around half nine/ten so it's not as much of a shock to his system, although I'd love for him to be up earlier. I'll try the treat first and see if that works, if not I'll see how he reacts to me lifting the house roof off. If he seems to be distressed I'll leave him to it and try again in a few days maybe

Oh you've got my sympathies! My little madam takes her sweet time to wake up, too. Sometimes she likes to troll me and just as I go to bed she peers out of her house (at midnight, half twelve). I've tried everything to get her up earlier but she's her own woman and has been for the whole 2 years we've had her.

I think your little one may well settle down once she's more comfortable in her surroundings. Once she realises how fun it is to wake up and play you'll have loads of interaction.

Mr. seems to like doing that to me too, haha, just as I'm about to rest my head on the pillow he starts running on his wheel. I hope he does, I'd love to be able to have play time with him without feeling dead the next day

Hope he adjust and you get to enjoy him before you go to sleep. Any sign of him yet.

Yes! Hooray! He's awake! The treat wasn't tempting enough for him so I gently lifted the roof of his house and he opened his sleepy eyes, sniffed, and took a few treats off of me. He's not quite ready to take anything from the palm of my hand, though I do keep trying in between giving him treats with my fingers. He's now running on his wheel so hopefully he'll start to be up a little bit earlier in the night Thank you so much for the advice!

Your welcome. He is settling in well. He should improve with time. He hopefully will recognise your voice / his name being called and come out for treats without you having to lift the top off his house.
