Visitors and hamster care
I currently have my friend and her three children staying over for 3 weeks due to moving house & being kicked out of their present home.
My worries are they are SUPER enthusiastic when Pixie or Tinkerbell simply shuffle, let alone are out about in their cages.
Their play pen time is done in the front room, where the Children sleep, I can't not have them out for 3 weeks, does anyone have any idea of some ground rules I can put down for the hamsters safety and sanity?
The obvious like don't put fingers in cage, don't shout, don't touch etc have already been well established. Just needed rules for play pen time to stop the hamsters being super overwhelmed, I've tried going into the bedroom with them but that's being occupied by their mum and her fiance so I don't want to intrude on their space with the hamsters, I just want to tell the kids (aged 7,9 & 11) rules around the hamsters and their care to ensure everyone can live peacefully for a few weeks.
Thanks

Re: Visitors and hamster care
The children may enjoy holding the hamster, giving food, water and even cleaning out. All interactions should be monitored.

Re: Visitors and hamster care
I was going to clean them out tomorrow, Pixie's starting to smell a little, they've been told they're not allowed to go near the cages unless me or their Mum are there to watch them. I have no issues letting them do the above, I just wanted to make sure I covered all the basis of rules re the children xD

Re: Visitors and hamster care
Aww they should get used to them, encourage them to stroke the hamsters and help clean the cage out or fill the water bottle and food bowl up! or even give. A treat or food by hand
