Default I have a confession to make

I know you should never have any favourites or soft spots but Charley makes my heart go all gooey inside. It's just something about her that I cannot really put my finger on.

It happens to us all. Many of us have what is called a "heart ham", one that touches your heart in a special way

We all have our favourites, it doesn't mean that we love our other hamsters any less because of it I had a real soft spot for the only other male Syrian I had, Winston. He was a black long haired little (well not so little) guy with a white band. I was heartbroken when he died, so much so that I honestly thought that I would never love another hamster again. Anyway, time helped and after four years I decided to give my heart to another. I'm so glad I did! I know he'd want me to care for and give love to others like I did with him

I think everyone has a heart ham, I have two! Winston, who is also a black banded! My boyfriend got me him for our 2 year anniversary. I'm not exactly sure why he feels so special to me, but he was the one who brought me to this forum, and found my new love for Syrians, even though I've had them before. I also had a scare with him when the vet said he had Cushing's Disease, which wasn't a life sentence, but their health and well being declines slowly and eventually end up in a really bad way and have to be put to sleep. It would have made his life shorter, but as time went on, he didn't get any worse, so I don't think he has Cushings. It really did break my heart when I was told he did though.

Abe is also a heart ham, He is from my first litter from me becoming a hobby breeder (and the only one I've had so far). He was a very weak, slow developing little boy since birth, and he needed a lot of hand feedings. The litter I had was difficult, and only 2 out of 10 survived. I was always worried about Abe, that he wouldn't pull through. But he has, and now he's a strong, still little man. He's very special to me too. I love them all so much though, they all are special in their own way

I have my Winter White, Rose, who has lightly bit me since the day I brought her home? My other 3 don't bite me? I find myself getting frustrated by this and it is harder to bond with her but I've accepted it as just her personality so I still treat her the same and since I've had her 17 months today! I have a bond with her anyways, always have despite her being a light biter (likes to hang on if she can).
