Default Flying Saucer Wheel for a Syrian

Hi I was just wondering if anyone had an opinion on the Flying Saucer Wheels and if they are ideal for a Syrian Hamster. At the moment Poppy uses a normal wheel and is on it quite regular. I am considering buying her a FS wheel just to vary her toys. Does anyone have a FS wheel for their Syrian and would a medium size be adequate.

They are great for Syrians, you need the 12inch one, the large one. The medium isn't big enough.

Just wondering if anyone keeps both the wheel and the saucer in the same cage, or do you normally use one for a playpen?
Thanks so much!

I had one for my last hamster, Duck. He LOVED it once he got used to it! To begin with I only let him have it for short amounts of time at Playtime as I didn't want him to use it instead of his main wheel. After he was used to it I left it in the cage and he used his regular wheel the most but just occasionally would be seen running like mad on his saucer! One great thing about them is ... If they put food on it and then run, the food will just fall off! Unlike in the normal wheels where the food goes round and round and round and round ...!!

That would be a nice idea if you have space for both Our flying saucer is in the playpen because I couldn't fit both in the cage - I maybe could now Charlie has a bigger cage so I'll have a think about that! But he's a large Syrian so a 12" wheel and a 12" flying saucer would take up a fair bit of space.
