Default New Syrian Hamster, Crystal!

On my birthday I adopted another Syrian Hamster and her name is Crystal! She is grey and she is super young and small, are there any tips about how to tame a hamster that doesn't 'like' food because she never takes food from the hand and I have tired multiple times? She is a lot more hyper and skittish then Einstein was when he was little but once you have her out she is the sweetest little thing.

She is probably still getting used to you and building up trust. Try giving her some veg or treats that have a nice smell to them and she might take them. I would keep trying and when she feels comfortable she will probably take them from you

Cute name! I love the name Crystal! Its on my animal naming list haha

Yeah I'd keep trying with the food, it took my newest boy a long time before he'd take food from me. I've had him for over 2 weeks now and he still only takes certain foods off of me. Though he is getting braver.

One thing I did with him, might have been slightly rushed, I geuss it depends on how you'd prefer to tame her. While he was in a tube, I picked it up and placed it in a cardboard box. When he came out of the tube I took it away so he was left to run around in a box. There I stroked him and offered him treats, which he didnt take, but I carried on stroking him when he would let me. I picked him up, and put him back down again. Just so he got used to being lifted up off the ground a few times. Then I held him properly after a few days of doing that and he was fine

All depends on how you tame your hamsters really! I'd say my way is the quick way, but if your ham seems stressed in anyway, stop and return her to her cage
