I'm with Cinnamon Bear and Rsclio, sometimes we have to be cruel to be kind. Forrest falling over and letting out pitiful shrieks is a sign that he's in pain. I know what I'd do if it was me, yes, having your hamster put to sleep by the vet is very upsetting but, it takes away the pain and they can be pain free and at peace.

Morning all,
I am considering gaving Forrest put to sleep when I got up at 04.00 this morning the little dude also got up tried to get up his ramp to where his water is and fell off and couldn't get himself off his back, so I helped him up.
As for food he has been eating strawberries and 5his morning some banana. I woyld dearly take himbtobthe vet but when you work stupidly long hours driving a truck the vets are all closed, so I am going to try and get an early finish and take the poor little dude on a final journey.
I can't believe how torn apart I feel about this being an ex soldier, rugby player and truck driver our little dude Forrest has woken so many emotions in my that I didnt know existed...

It's the last great gift. Some vets open at 7.30am Rads and stay open till 7pm so I think they would make an arrangement. P@H vets are also open Sundays.
He looks ready - he's had a good life and I hope his path is gentle when you take him in x

Dear All,
Forrest has been to put to sleep by a very nice local vet they where very kind and gentle with him so my wife tells me .
I am stuck here working at in my truck feeling awful, guilty and hate the fact I wasn't there with him, it was for the best after this morning. My wife told me he was trying to rally and got up for a drink or two during the day but it wasn't fair and I wish that nature had taken its course and he coyld have passed quietly in his sleep.

I am so sorry - it feels awful I know. It was the kindest thing though, and he is pain free now and playing free over the rainbow bridge. I cried buckets when I took our hamster to the vet for an op and he didn't come back (many years ago). He's at peace now x

The poor little dude also had a tumour in his abdomen that is why he seemed to go down hill so quick...

Cinnamon, Rads is in the Uk. I know you feel strongly and it's a good point - but the little guy has been put to sleep now. Sometimes it's hard for an owner to let go, but if the hamster is suffering it needs doing and Rads has done that now.

I apologize because I didn't see the 2nd page of your thread, that you already had your pet PTS.

I also have a dwarf with an abdominal tumor so I might be in the same position as you in the near future? Hoping not but I'm prepared to have her PTS at the slightest amount of suffering. She is 20 mo old approximately.
