Re: Grief
Could you write about how you felt/feel. Perhaps a little history of Nibbles and all the times you had together.
Some people like to plant something in memory of a loved one.
It does get easier in time. Perhaps your rescue hamster can be of some comfort to you (even though its not a cuddly one).
Best of luck. Keep talking to us on here. There is so much compassion and understanding on hc.

Re: Grief
I'm so sorry for your loss. *hugs* If you have other hamsters or pets, being around them could help. I find that being with my other hams and pets is very comforting. I know it may be too soon but when my first hamster Cream Puff died when I was 12 I was devastated. I didn't get another pet until I was 16, when I got my second hamster I felt like the hole in my heart was filled. Butterball died 3 weeks later due to a neurological issue and my friend asked if I wanted her hamster because she was moving and couldn't bring it with her. I offered to take him even though I was still grieving and I thought he would make me sad and remind me of BB but he did the exact opposite. So maybe think about adopting another one.

Re: Grief
Hi daydreambeliever, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. When my little ones have passed, the compassion shown by this group really helped my grief. I was told by one member that the love I had of my dear girl was reflected in my grief and that it showed just how much love I still had in my heart. I wrote an obituary and a private poem, and, in end, channeled that love towards my newest fluffy companion. This approach isn't got everyone; thankfully we are all different but it's okay to grieve and it will get better. Much love to you x

Re: Grief
Of course you want him back, it is very hard when we lose them & we all deal with our grief differently but it will always take time, you have to allow yourself to go through the process, hold on to the fact that in time you will be able to cherish the memories you will always have without so much pain.
Sometimes bringing a new little one in need of a good home into your heart can help but for some people that takes time, remember though we have space in our heart for more hams to love, we are never replacing the ones that have gone to the bridge.
If you haven't cleared away his things yet don't feel you have to rush, you need to do everything at the time that is right for you.
If you can plant something or make a little memorial that can help, as the others suggested writing something down about your feelings or even writing to your ham telling him how much you love him & cherish the time you had together can be helpful.
Just knowing that there are so many people hear who care & understand our grief has always helped me too.

Re: Grief
Hi, I'm very sorry for your loss. I like to make scrapbooks and photo albums and to talk about it with someone. Everyone deals with loss in different ways and I hope you find something that really helps you. As suggested above, I think planting something is a wonderful idea. I wish you all the best and sending lots of love your way x
