Question hamster wheel

hello so i have a syrian and he isn't that big probably like 7-8 inches and right now he has the 8.5 in comfort wheel and its not that small but sometimes i feel like he finds it uncomfortable. he doesn't show signs of discomfort but i was just wondering if there any wheels out there that are like 10 inches because i have seen 12 in wheels and those are way too big and i feel like it would take up the whole tank (he has a 30 gallon tank). thank you in advance

I have an 11" wodent wheel that is good & not too huge. I think the Carolina Storm wheel is supposed to be good too but I don't know about sizing as we don't get that here.
I know what you mean though, I struggled to find a wheel as a lot of the 12" wheels once they're on stands are pretty chunky but I've been pleased with my wodent wheel. Better to have a good size wheel & take something else out, I think than a too small wheel. He needs a straight back when running, not back arched & nose in the air

Agree with velma. I actually think the 11" wodent wheel would take up less space than the 10.5" california wheel, as the wodent wheel is slimmer and quite compact generally. I would go with the 11" wodent wheel, which is a good size for a Syrian hamster. The California wheel is supposed to be great and silent, but does take up a lot of space - it's quite deep including the depth of the wheel itself and the depth of the stand.

You are right, 12" wheels are huge! It isn't just the extra inch in height, they tend to be very deep as well. The 11" wodent wheel is 7cm deep and about 30cm high. I'd go for that one. We have the bigger 12" wobust wheel (unfortunately our large syrian was just a bit too bit for the 11"!!!!!) and I like it. Quiet and runs well. I think they work best hung upside down, but are fine anyway without that.
