Type ?
((sorry if this is in the wrong place, didn't know quite where it would fit in!))
I've been briefly looking at hamster shows as it's something I'd love to get into in the future. But I don't understand how you 'judge' a hamster type.... What is considered good? I've seen a few things saying about the head shape, and bigger hamsters are 'better' than smaller ones?
Does anyone know a website/thread/etc. which has photo examples or can help me understand this type business! Would be incredibly helpful

Re: Type ?
Perhaps google hamster breeders and look at the links on their websites.
I visited Towyvale hamstery and they had some really beautiful (and big) syrians, one of which my friend bought and later gave to me (yey)!

Re: Type ?
If you follow Nancy's threads on her litters that will help you. She has some good explanations there of what she is trying to breed for. Have you looked at the NHC website? May be more in depth there too. There are certain standards they are looking for & judge against that. A bit like a dog show. So narrower heads wouldn't score as highly as that isn't the desirable shape et. As well as looking at websites, the best thing would be to go to some hamster shows & chat to people. Most have a pet class to that is judged on tameness & condition but not on type. I understand it's a good way to get into showing.
