Default What a dramatic and stressful experience!

I now have two new members to my hamily. Kaisha (first photo) and Kumar (second photo) are hybrids I believe, their age is unknown but they're estimated to be between 8 weeks to 2 months old and are such lovely fluffballs. The process of getting both of them was unpleasant which left me vexed and the story I was told about them made me feel relieved due to the fact that they are going to have a much better life with me. They were apparently in with males for a few days before I got them this afternoon so they are now on pregnancy watch. They started to continually squeak as soon as they were put in the carrier which alarmed me slightly and I quickly found out that Kumar is absolutely petrified of Kaisha since she was constantly being bullied and chased around. They are now happily settling into their tanks (all of the photos are of both of them together before being separated).

They're lovely! It's a shame when getting them isn't a lovely experience but how satisfying to take them to a better life. Hope you don't have any "surprises"

They are Adorable but excuse my total lack of knowlege here but what are Hybreds? They are Beautiful and I hope they settle in quickly and get on well and give you years of enjoyment happily being their servant

Thanks! The joys of female hamsters ☺The only thing I know about hybrids is that they are mixed with the Campbells hamster, HP. It is all very confusing!

A hybrid is quite commonly called a Russian hamster. There are two dwarf species that can interbreed : the winter white & the Campbells. The result of breeding these together is known as a hybrid. they look similar but are two distinct species so the breeding of them together has caused problems such as an increased risk of diabetes. They can look more like one species or the other so can look like you have a WW or a Campbells but unless they come from a reputable breeder with paperwork they will most likely always be a hybrid.

Shame on the person that allowed them to be under such stress!! It's so great to see hamsters going to a better home

A double pregnancy watch! Well, this is new!

Congratulations and by the sounds of it, they will indeed have a better time of it with you

You sound like you are well organised, separating them and putting them on pregnancy watch. Glad they are now safe in their tanks with you. I'm sure they will settle into them over the next few days. Is Kumar (the one that was being bullied) the one on the second photo? She looks a bit thinner in the face. I'm sure she will blossom now
