Default Mulan's ongoing obsession...

Hi there!

Just here for some advice really. From the get-go my little Mulan has absolutely loved cuddly things - whenever I get her out, if I'm in my dressing gown, she'll run all over it and do her little excited chuffing she does. She used to sleep in a pocket in my old dressing gown sometimes if she was a bit tired when she came out for play. So when I got rid of the dressing gown I decided to make a little hammock out of the pocket - and she ate all her food in there.

Mulan's never been a chewer of anything so I wasn't worried. When I get her out I put her in an empty ball pool pit with a blanket on the bottom for her to run around on. She's very recently started to chew the blanket when she's out. I try to put her off but she's pretty determined. And now when I put her back she is doing it to her dressing-gown hammock. She seems to only be nibbling it and spitting it out (odd) but I was wondering if I should remove it just in case? If I should, what else should I use on the bottom of the playpen (she hates the weird material its made of)

TL;DR Hamster started chewing dressing gown material. Should I remove from her cage?

Once they've begun chewing things like that they are unlikely to stop which is a shame when she's been enjoying her little hammock so much but I would remove it for now at least, I just put substrate in the bottom of my playpen or play tubs so they can forage around in it & don't have to run around on plastic if it's a tub.
Does she have anything like whimzees or dog biscuits to chew on as a distraction from other things?

Thanks for the response cypher, I'll take it out now.
I give her a bit of a milk bone occasionally to chew on which she seems to like, but maybe i'll try some whimsees as well next time I make an order for her.

It's a popup ball-pool pit caus I don't have much space in my flat, but I'll try with something non-fluffy.

How do you find the milk bones Chonkers? The ones I bought seem rather soft.

Not that I thought your were eating them!

eta, Mulan sounds so cuute, cuddling up in your dressing gown.

I am away for a few days so am not sure of the brand. When I'm back I'll let you know! I just got them from a local petstore
