Default What to do with an empty hamster tank?

Hi my hamster, Mr Hamster passed away last week. He lived in a 3ft tank in the living room. The tanks is now empty and I'm not getting a new hamster until the new year.

I have young nieces and nephews who are obviously upset about Mr Hamster and the empty tank is upsetting them.

I was thinking of either covering it or decorate it like a snow scene - some shredded paper and Christmas ornaments like reindeer and slay.

Would decorating it be weird?

TIA

Decorating it would be lovely. Empty cages can be heart breaking when you have to see them a lot and this sounds like a perfect solution x

I think that could be a beautiful memorial to Mr. Hamster. It's a great idea!

I think it's a lovely idea. You could also get a piece of board to rest on the top to put Christmas ornaments on. So you could have your snow scene in the cage & a little Christmas tree etc on top. You could cover the board with some wrapping paper or a little Christmas tablecloth. You can some cheap ones from the pound shop.

Decorating it was my first thought before I got as far as your suggestion to decorate it! Maybe get the kids involved too, sounds like it would be fun for them. Maybe you could all share your favourite memories of Mr Hamster while you do it too?
