And his name is Lemon Tart
So i'm deciding to keep this little guy with me and have decided to name him "Lemon Tart"
I'm not sure if this hamster is brave, trusting, or remembers that i rescued him, because, welll, he's pretty bored as i haven't gotten a chance to get him a wheel yet. But he doesn't seem to fer me, despite what human hands have clearly done to him
He was a bit nippy at first, but now he's pretty chipper it seems. He jumps up at me whenever i look down on the cage and when i tried laying my hand flat on the bedding, he just hopped aboard and allowed me to pull him on up and crawled around me. he still nips me from time to time in which i gently blow on his face and deliver a firm but soft "no" and he'll stop and not be discouraged to crawl around.
I am still heavy hearted that the other hd to die. He deserved so much better and i hope he's resting well and playing gleefully at the bridge.
As for meatloaf, he's still doing his thing and of course i remember to rid myself of any lemon tart smell before going over to him so that he isn't disturbed or angered. He still takes treats from me and i took him for a bit of fresh air but using a cup to trasport him. Getting him back proved to be a chore because he seemed to zip around my bed nd he still wasn't too excited about my handling him. No screaming though. After i put him back in the cage, i gave him a treat which he accepted and ate.
So now i got 2 hammies. A Short haired and a long haired syrian. I'm very hopeful that i can handle having 2 little babs

Re: And his name is Lemon Tart
Both brave & trusting I think! It's amazing how trusting animals can be even after the cruelest treatment by other humans, your little Lemon Tart sounds really sweet & you seem to be doing fine with Meatloaf too so I'm sure you'll have no problem looking after two little ones.
Try not to feel too bad about the one that didn't make it, the main thing is that there's no more suffering, just peace at the rainbow bridge.

Re: And his name is Lemon Tart
That's great SE
You should quarantine the new hammie for two weeks. Keep him in a separate room and be very careful about transferring microbes not just on your hands but on your clothes as well.
Bless I'm hoping he will settle quickly.

Re: And his name is Lemon Tart
Awww seems like your little rescue is a sweetie :3. It'll probably take him some time to settle completely but it sounds like he's very tame already which should make everything easier. He may have had a rough time of it but from now on he's going to have a safe home where he will be loved and properly cared for and that's the best thing you can do for any living being
