Default Pulled some hair out. Long haired male.

So I was combing Little Bears fur a a while ago. While I was brushing him I found a little bit of a knot. Thinking it was a simple little tangle, I tried brushing it out as he was walking by and it ended up getting pulled out. I feel like such a bad hamster mommy. I wasn't trying to pull it out. I never meant to hurt him. He didn't seem bothered by it and kept walking without missing a beat. I just feel a lot of guilt.

If I had know it was a bigger knot then I would've snipped it off but it got pulled out before I had a chance. So here I am to talk about my guilt and just to talk.

I brush his fur daily. It was a fur knot not a bedding knot.

- Will he be ok?
- Will his fur that got pulled out grow back? It wasn't that much at all but I'm worried that he'll have a bald spot because of me or it won't grow back all the way.
- Does fur grow back if I cut out the really bad knots?

It probably felt good to get that knot out. I don't see why it wouldn't grow back. You're a good mommy for brushing him every day. Tangles will happen.
Do any of the experienced keepers know if adding a small amount of some kind of oil to the diet is a safe way to keep the long fur from getting too dry and tangled? I'm not suggesting it because I don't myself know if it's safe but someone else might.

If he wasn't bothered by it Oatmeal I would try not to be bothered yourself, if he didn't react or turn around he probably didn't even notice! it's only a tiny bit of fur, I wouldn't worry about a bald patch and it's definitely going to grow back

Well that's a relief!! Thank you very much. Is there anything else I can do to help prevent knots, tangles and matting?
