Whisper learns to swim?...
Whisper, my female Syrian, has been out loads tonight. We had a little incident when she came out one of those times; I sat her on top of her tank for just a second, and before I could stop her, she'd squeezed behind it.
The thing is, Whisper's tank is sat on top of a dresser with a big mirror. She squeezed between the mirror and the glass of the tank just enough so that she could support herself in place, like a squished spiderham. As I tried to coax her back out, she took a great deal of pleasure in ignoring me and pushing herself along between this little space, exploring this exciting new way of travel.
Because of the clear glass and the mirror behind her, it looked like she was swimming in thin air, doing the hamster breaststroke. Her technique was excellent, I have to admit. I know I bought her an aquarium to live in, but literally becoming a fish is taking it too far, don't you think?
Long story short, I couldn't stop laughing, she refused to come out and I ended up just pulling the tank forward and scooping her up. She's not getting on top of that tank lid again, that's for sure.
